Description
This book is a sequel to the previous work, The Place-Names of West Penwith, which as first published contained only names of settlements and farms. Like its predecessor, this book is intended for the general reader rather than the professional scholar. It is an attempt to record and interpret the field-names of West Penwith, published by the author in 1990.
The object of this work is to record and explain a selection of the more significant and interesting field names of the Land’s End or Penwith peninsula of Cornwall. It includes an introduction to the Cornish Language, the study of place names, the development of field names, the structure of field names, and a glossary of field names which makes up the greatest part of the booklet.
An invaluable work for those interested in Cornish place names and West Penwith history.
