Successful visit to Cornwall

30th July 2025 by melanie in REVIVE

Last week Fabrizio, Chris and Luke from Story Lab, Anglia Ruskin University came to Cornwall to discuss the REVIVE project with the Cornish Language Community.

We gathered in Penryn on Monday evening for an introductory presentation from Project Lead Fabrizio Galeazzi.

This was followed by a link up between ourselves and the other minority language community in the REVIVE project, the Griko community. Kensa Broadhurst, Emma Jenkin and Mark Trevethan gave a presentation introducting Cornish Language and Heritage and people from the Griko Community, gathered in Puglia, Southern Italy, reciprocated.

Afterwards there were pasties and tea and discussions plus chances to try out some immersive experiences wearing VR headsets.

On Tuesday the team travelled east to Wheal Martyn near St Austell and west to the Morrab Library in Penzance to meet members of the Cornish Language community, providing more opportunities to try out some immersive experiences on the VR headsets and discussing the sort of stories we might feature. People considered the experiences we might amplify during the Project and the activities they might like to take part in, casting votes on a chart with stars.

We are now working towards the next REVIVE visit to Cornwall in the fourth week of October.
